Software Engineer - Machine Learning

We’re looking for a full-stack engineer to round out our skillsets and help lead our growing engineering team. Our ideal candidate is someone with meaningful SWE experience who wants to expand their responsibilities and own projects across our tech stack, and who can design and build end-to-end solutions from scratch.

Bodega is different in that we’re a consumer-facing company with ML baked into our DNA. Today, contemporary ML work comes in two flavors: 1) challenges on donated data sets, where cutting edge models are tested against existing frameworks on static tasks (MS COCO, ImageNet, etc.), 2) corporate data-science efforts, where it’s the job of the ML engineer to build meaningful models out of the data that results from static coded user-flows and conversion funnels that other engineering teams build.

Our model is different; Bodega is a commerce company where each transaction is meant to be run through an ML model, which means our ML and non-ML tech stacks are intimately intertwined. Thus, as an ML engineer at Bodega you will be responsible not only for coming up with and building out cutting edge models; you’ll be responsible for ensuring the rest of our stack and parallel development efforts are oriented to better inform and refine the models you build.

  • Masters or PhD in machine learning or a machine learning related field
  • Experience implementing non-NN based ML (R, scikit-learn, Tensorflow)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self driven with an ability to execute
